A look inside my Makeup Kit: Part One

by - 2:35:00 PM

Back when I was ignorant about a lot of things, I thought makeup was just a thing that attention-hungry people wore.
"Oh makeup is just for girly girls who want attention from boys, which I don't need 'cause I'm a tomboy, and also f*ck boys!"
Ignorant and stereotypical, right?
Anyway, I didn't want to miss out on the luxury and beauty of life. So come 2013, I blossomed into this beautiful, non-biased-about-makeup kind of person and look how happy I am! Ha-ha!
So before I preach more about gender stereotypes, let's get on with my beauty kit, shall we?

PRIMERS

I have two of these babies because I'm a lazy potato when it comes to researching stuff so I ended up impulse-buying the elf one then later discovering that Maybelline actually has the better drugstore purchase. For those of you who doesn't have a clue as to what primers do, it basically extends the longevity of your foundation and makes the application more even and smoother.

PRODUCTS:
elf Poreless Face Primer (P150) - very smooth application but doesn't really do the poreless finish it aims for; also has a very medicinal/minty smell to it that I personally don't like, though it goes away after a minute or two after application
Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser Primer (P300ish?) - best drugstore primer EVER. Period.

FOUNDATION

Again, I have two of these 'cause impulse buyer + lazy researcher = Ha-ha-ha (sobs in corner)
Anyway, I find that liquid foundations are much more manageable  and doesn't cake too much unlike powder foundations especially considering the weather here in the Philippines.

PRODUCTS:
essence Stay All Day 16Hr Long Lasting Foundation (P150) - I haven't really tested the longevity of it but I've seen a lot of reviews claiming that it does live up to it's name. The finish of it is very smooth and it is very buildable. But for me, a little goes a long way. *It was on sale when I bought it so price may vary.
Maybelline Dream Satin Skin Liquid Foundation (P250ish?) - All I can say is UGH. It's not that I don't like the finish of it and application of it, but I really regret purchasing this 'cause of the shade I chose. It was too dark for my skin tone and if you're acidic, it will really oxidize the hell out of your skin. So I guess it's not for me, though sometimes I use it when I know that where I'm going is a cold place. Ha-ha.

Additional stuff in my kit: AVON Anew 360 White 15-in-1 CC Cream (P400ish?)

This is what I use when I don't want heavy makeup on my face, which I usually use everyday. I dab this to my face, add a little bit of blush, wing some eyeliner, and whisk some mascara then voila! I'm fresh and fabulous and ready to face the world!

SETTING POWDER

NICHIDO Final Powder (P150ish?) - I was just looking for a cheap setting powder since makeup doesn't melt on my face too much so I bought this. I'm not really even very knowledgeable about this so yeah. Ha-ha.

.....and that's the whole kit for my base makeup. I'll be tackling more about eye shadows, blushes, lipsticks and things that add color and enhance the features of the face on my next post.
'Till next time!

NOTE: Sorry if I'm very uncertain about the prices. I bought these things and never took note of the prices. Teehee.
